Last night Channel 7 reported speculation that the government will increase the rate of JobSeeker for people over the age of 55 in the federal budget next week.
This report has caused confusion and mixed emotions among many members of our community. It’s important to note that this is budget speculation, and we don’t have further details about what will be in the budget. However, if this speculation is correct, many members of our community will be left behind because they are under 55.
We need to make clear that the government cannot leave people behind in this budget.
If we go quiet now, we risk losing the momentum that the campaign has built to date. Today, our community is going to work together to make sure that members of the government and the Prime Minister are flooded with phone calls urging them to make sure that no one is left behind.
